Every Minute, They’re Killing One Actor or The Other, So It’s No Big Deal – Dokubo on Death Rumors

Veteran Nollywood actress and activist Hilda Dokubo has debunked false reports about her death, expressing concern over the distress the rumors have caused to her family and friends.
The actress addressed the situation in an interview, clarifying that she remains in good health and undeterred by the false claims.
Rumors of her passing began circulating on social media, particularly in Rivers State, sparking widespread concern among her fans and loved ones.
The misleading reports suggested that she had passed away following her alleged involvement in a political rally, an event she firmly denied any connection to. The false information spread quickly, prompting individuals to visit her elderly mother to verify the claims, causing unnecessary emotional distress to her family.
Dokubo expressed disappointment at the repeated instances of fake death announcements targeting public figures.
She noted that such baseless reports not only cause fear and panic but also reflect a disturbing trend of misinformation in the digital space. The actress highlighted how such rumors have been weaponized in political and social contexts, often as a means to silence or intimidate outspoken individuals.
Despite the falsehoods, she reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for justice and good governance. Known for her fearless stance on political matters, Dokubo has consistently used her platform to address governance issues in Nigeria.
She emphasized that she remains steadfast in her beliefs and will continue to voice her opinions without fear or compromise.
She said, “Everybody, this is me, healthy and strong. I’m not dead. I’m not dying now. I’m not afraid. Do you know how many times blogs have written that I died? Every second, every minute, they’re killing one actor or the other. So, it’s not a big deal. But a lot of people have been worried. I also worry for my friends. People had even gone to visit my mum who is almost 80 years old.”
