Fabrizio Romano reveals how much Man United must pay for Mbeumo

Fabrizio Romano provided the latest updates on the ongoing negotiations between Manchester United and Brentford for the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo.

The 25-year-old is coming off a sensational campaign that saw him score 20 goals for the Bees. So after six years at the Gtech Community Stadium, it is past time for the Cameroonian winger to join a bigger club.

In the meantime, United have identified the left-footed star as the right profile to bolster the attacking department after landing Matheus Cunha.

But while the Red Devils apparently have an agreement with Mbeumo over personal terms, they have yet to strike an accord with his current employers.

Man Utd submitted an opening bid of £45 million plus £10m in add-ons, but it was deemed too low by Brentford.

In the latest video update on his official YouTube channel, Romano revealed that Brentford are holding out for £70 million. Nevertheless, the Italian journalist believes the two clubs can reach a middle ground.

As reported by several other sources over the last 24 hours, Man Utd and Brentford have resumed their talks, and many believe the second round of negotiations could prove decisive.

How Much Man Utd must spend on Bryan Mbeumo

Romano thinks that the Bees would eventually accept a fee similar to the one United spent on Cunha, that is £62.5 million. Hence, he expects the operation to be closed at £60-65 million, depending on bonuses and other variables.

The transfer market insider also insists that Mbeumo only has eyes for Man Utd, as he has already rejected approaches from Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Moreover, Romano reveals signing the Cameroon international wouldn’t spell the end of the Reds’ attacking revamp, as they’ll still be aiming to add a centre-forward to the ranks, especially with Rasmus Hojlund emerging as a primary transfer target for Inter Milan.
