FG Drops Airport Cases Against Emmanson & KWAM 1, Cites “Compassionate Grounds”

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has confirmed that criminal complaints against Ms. Comfort Emmanson (Ibom Air) and Fuji legend KWAM 1 (ValueJet) are being withdrawn after both showed remorse over recent unruly passenger incidents.

On Emmanson, arrested after an August 10 Ibom Air flight row, Keyamo said:

“She exhibited great remorse for her conduct… I have conferred with Ibom Airline to withdraw the complaint… and appealed to lift the life-time flying ban imposed on her.”

For KWAM 1, whose ValueJet altercation led to a flight ban, Keyamo announced:

“The NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to one month… and will work with him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol.”

ValueJet pilots involved will also have their licenses restored after a one-month suspension and mandatory re-appraisal.

Keyamo ordered a security personnel retraining retreat next week and warned:

“We take safety and security in the aviation sector very seriously… we have decided to draw a line after these clemencies.”
