Manchester United are finally back in action this evening following a lengthy break.
The Reds’ last outing was a comfortable 3-0 win over Leicester City on March 16, and with tonight’s fixture taking place on Nottingham Forest’s turf, the Old Trafford faithful will have to wait until Sunday’s Manchester derby to see the side back in their home comforts.
Tonight poses as an unmissable opportunity for United to gain momentum by sealing back-to-back Premier League victories. They also overturned Real Sociedad 4-1 in the Europa League last-16 prior to the break, meaning they should realistically be high on confidence when locking horns with the Trees.
That being said, Forest have enjoyed a truly unfathomable campaign by all accounts. A spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and well on course to secure Champions League qualification with a top-four finish has their loyal fans in absolute dreamland.
Andre Onana singled out in Forest’s match programme
Should the hosts reign victorious come the full-time whistle, it’ll mark their first-ever league double over United in the Premier League era, having defeated the 20-time champions in M16 by three goals to two back in December.
Ahead of kick-off, one picture has begun doing the rounds on social media which shows Forest aiming a bizarre dig at Andre Onana in their matchday programme. Alongside a picture of the shot-stopper, they’ve written: “Onana is capable of both the sublime and the ridiculous between the posts and he can possess erratic tendencies at times.”
In truth, you’d struggle to find a United supporter that would dispute such a sentiment, but it doesn’t mean it’s their place to say!
