Fresh Out of EFCC Grip, E-Money Sounds Alarm on Money Spraying at Parties

Popular businessman and socialite, Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, has issued a public advisory urging Nigerians to desist from spraying Naira or any currency at parties or events, warning that such acts are against the law.

In a social media post, E-Money referenced reminders from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which states that the spraying of currency notes is considered a form of currency abuse and is punishable under Nigerian law.

“Let’s celebrate responsibly and avoid fines. Respect our currency!” he wrote. He further advised that anyone wishing to gift money during celebrations should do so respectfully by placing the money in a basket or container instead of spraying it or dropping it on the floor.

“Ignorance is not going to be an excuse,” he added, encouraging the public to be aware of and abide by financial laws to avoid penalties.

The post was tagged with several awareness hashtags including #EFCC, #NoToNairaAbuse, #CelebrateResponsibly, and #NoToSprayingOfForeignCurrency.
