Fresh Trouble for Jonathan: Court Asked to Stop Him from Contesting 2027 Presidential Election

A senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Salihu Isa Nataro, has called on Nigerians to consider a joint 2027 presidential ticket featuring Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.

Nataro, a former APC governorship candidate in Kebbi State, made the appeal in Abuja on Sunday.

He said a Dangote–Otti presidential ticket would restore confidence in Nigeria’s economy and drive industrial growth across all regions.

According to him, both men have demonstrated competence in leadership and economic management.

He explained that their combined experience in business and governance could help tackle unemployment, reduce poverty, and promote national unity through massive industrial reforms.

He said, “If Dangote can step aside from his conglomerates, as he has already done with two companies, Nigerians will gladly support him to run alongside Otti.

Together, they can industrialise Nigeria within a short time.”

The APC stalwart described the duo as disciplined technocrats capable of transforming Nigeria’s economy through practical policies.

He also criticised many state governments for neglecting critical sectors such as vocational training, agriculture, and youth empowerment  areas he said were key to national development.

Nataro warned that rising unemployment and poverty were fueling crime, drug abuse, and insecurity.

He urged both federal and state leaders to prioritise job creation and industrial expansion instead of political rhetoric.

He praised Governor Otti for promoting transparent and reform-driven governance in Abia State.

According to him, Otti’s move to secure low-interest credit facilities from the United Arab Emirates showed foresight and accountability.

“Governor Otti stands out among today’s governors for his focus on transparency and economic innovation,” he said.

The APC chieftain also expressed confidence that an Otti presidency would strengthen anti-corruption institutions such as the EFCC, ICPC, and the Code of Conduct Bureau.

He said such leadership would ensure that corrupt individuals are held accountable instead of being rewarded with political appointments.

While commending President Bola Tinubu for his efforts to stabilise the economy, Nataro noted that the government’s progress had been slowed by a lack of enthusiasm among some presidential appointees.

He also cautioned against harsh revenue collection methods, especially in the Federal Capital Territory.

He said fair tax reforms should be implemented carefully to avoid discouraging investors and businesses.

“Revenue generation should not be forceful,” Nataro said. “Leaders like Dangote and Otti understand that investment thrives in an environment of fairness and trust.”

He concluded by calling for prudent spending, reduced borrowing, and a government free of “liars, looters, and deceivers.”

“Nigeria needs competent and compassionate leaders, not career politicians,” Nataro said. “A Dangote–Otti ticket, if it ever happens, could mark a new dawn for Nigeria’s economy.”
