Galadima says selfish interests hinder united front against Tinubu DDM News

(DDM) – New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain, Buba Galadima, has criticised opposition leaders for failing to form a united coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s government.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Galadima, speaking during an interview on ARISE Television’s Prime Time on Monday, described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a mere “conglomeration of politicians.”

He lamented that selfish interests have consistently prevented the formation of a strong alliance capable of unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, opposition leaders already know which combinations could deliver victory in the 2027 elections, but a lack of sacrifice continues to undermine such possibilities.

“I could have wished all of us to come together to unseat the present government, but because of selfishness,” Galadima declared.

“All of them know who and who can be combined to win the election, but are we ready to do that?” he asked rhetorically.

Galadima also commented on the recent meeting between former President Goodluck Jonathan and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

He said the two leaders represent a political strategy that, if properly harnessed, could rescue Nigerians from worsening hardship.

“If they can come together and bring one person, you can see the whole country will fall in line,” Galadima said.

He stressed that unity among credible opposition figures is essential to provide Nigerians with a viable alternative to the APC.

The NNPP stalwart argued that Peter Obi and Jonathan, by agreeing on a joint candidate, could galvanise national support and mount a formidable challenge against Tinubu.

Analysts note that Galadima’s comments come amid intensifying political manoeuvres as opposition parties weigh strategies for the 2027 elections.

The APC currently dominates Nigeria’s political space, having weakened both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party in recent years.

Galadima, however, described Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, as a continuing “nightmare” for the ruling party.

He insisted that Kwankwaso’s political relevance and grassroots appeal remain a major threat to the APC despite its consolidation of power.

The call for opposition unity reflects broader public debates about Nigeria’s democratic future and growing frustrations over hardship under Tinubu’s administration.

Political watchers believe that unless opposition leaders overcome personal ambitions, the APC may retain its grip on power in 2027.
