Healthcare Is A Fundamental Right : Okpalaeke Assures Constituents

In a bold reaffirmation of his commitment to grassroots development, the Member representing Aguata One Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Anayo Okpalaeke, has declared that access to quality healthcare is not a privilege but a fundamental right of every citizen.

Honourable Okpalaeke made this known during a community outreach event held in Achina, Aguata Local Government Area, where over 150 constituents were officially enrolled into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme (ASHIA), with their medical bills fully covered for one year under the initiative.

“This program is not a campaign stunt,” he emphasized. “It is a personal commitment to positively impact your lives. Healthcare is your right as citizens, and I want you to have access to it without financial worry. All you need is the health insurance card you will be given, just walk into the hospital when you need care.”

He praised Governor Charles Soludo and the Anambra State Government for their progressive support of the health insurance platform, describing the initiative as a model of people-centered governance.

“Any government that truly serves the people must prioritize healthcare, infrastructure, electricity, and other essential services. Governor Soludo is delivering on these fronts, and he deserves our collective support,” Okpalaeke added.

The legislator also took a moment to thank his constituents for their continued support. “I wouldn’t have had the privilege to do this if you hadn’t voted me into the office. Your trust fuels my commitment to serve.”

Honorable Okpalaeke further reiterated his pledge to remain accountable to the people of Aguata One, revealing plans for an upcoming town hall meeting. “As I promised, I will give an annual account of my stewardship. In a few weeks, we’ll meet again to review our progress and plan for future needs.”

The event drew enthusiastic reactions from community leaders and beneficiaries alike. Archbishop Titus Orji, Chairman of the South East Pentecostal Bishops, along with Mrs. Dorothy Udoye, Mrs. Emilia Unuakpunwa, and Mrs. Elizabeth Dimakunyelu, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the lawmaker’s intervention, offering prayers for his continued success and protection.

In attendance, His Royal Highness, Igwe Chidi Ezenwugo, the traditional ruler of Uga and the Chairman Aguata traditional rulers council graced the event with his presence.
