Helicopter crash in Hudson river claims six lives

Jersey City, NJ – April 10, 2025 – A Bell 206 helicopter crashed into the Hudson River near Jersey City on Thursday afternoon, killing at least six people.
Currently, the aircraft remains underwater as recovery teams work to locate it.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed the incident but has not yet determined the exact number of passengers.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press has reported that six individuals died in the crash.
Authorities, including the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), are investigating the cause.
The NTSB will oversee the inquiry and provide updates as new details emerge.
Divers from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) are leading the search efforts in the river.
Additionally, the New York City Police Department’s Harbor Unit is assisting in the recovery operation.
The crash site lies close to Manhattan and the Holland Tunnel, a major transit route handling millions of vehicles yearly.
Due to the incident, the U.S. Coast Guard has set up a one-mile safety zone around the area, disrupting nearby ferry services.
Furthermore, the NYPD has warned drivers to expect delays near West Side Highway and Spring Street due to emergency operations.
Three Coast Guard vessels, along with Hoboken Fire Department’s Marine 1 unit, are actively supporting recovery efforts.
Hoboken Police are also stationed nearby to provide assistance.
In response, New York City Mayor Eric Adams called the crash “heartbreaking” in a social media post.
He confirmed that FDNY and NYPD teams are aiding New Jersey responders and urged the public to avoid Pier 40.
As the investigation progresses, officials are examining possible causes, including environmental factors.
According to FOX Weather, the Hudson River’s temperature was in the mid-40s at the time, with no severe weather reported.
Families of the victims await answers as the NTSB continues its probe.
