Hilda Baci wins Guinness World Record for largest pot of jollof rice

(DDM) – Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has added another feather to her cap as Guinness World Records (GWR) officially recognised her latest culinary feat.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the chef was awarded the record for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement in a statement posted on its official X account on Monday.
According to GWR, Hilda Baci, in partnership with Gino, cooked 8,780 kilograms of jollof rice at a Lagos event.
The exact weight was listed as 19,356 pounds and 9 ounces, setting a new global record for the Nigerian delicacy.
The record-breaking event took place on September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Tagged the “Gino World Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci,” the occasion attracted thousands of attendees.
It also generated a massive buzz across social media platforms, with Nigerians celebrating the culinary milestone.
Hilda Baci first captured international attention in 2023 when she set the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.
Her latest recognition reinforces her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished and celebrated chefs.
The Lagos event featured high-profile guests from entertainment, lifestyle, and political circles.
Celebrities including Funke Akindele, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, and Pastor Idowu were present at the festival.
Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor, also attended in support of the chef’s record-breaking attempt.
Organisers described the festival as both a celebration of Nigerian cuisine and a global showcase of culinary excellence.
Observers say the feat has further cemented jollof rice as a cultural symbol of Nigerian pride.
The dish, long considered a staple in West Africa, has been a point of cultural rivalry across the region.
Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal often compete over who produces the most authentic version of jollof rice.
Hilda’s latest achievement, however, has placed Nigeria firmly in the spotlight on the world stage.
The chef expressed gratitude to her supporters, sponsors, and the Guinness World Records team for validating the attempt.
She described the recognition as not only personal but also a victory for Nigerian food culture.
Fans on social media hailed her as a national treasure, praising her commitment to breaking boundaries.
Marketing experts predict the recognition will boost Nigeria’s culinary tourism and inspire younger chefs.
With two Guinness World Records to her name, Hilda Baci is now seen as a global culinary ambassador.
Her journey from a local chef to an international star underscores the power of resilience, talent, and cultural pride.
For now, the record stands as both a historic milestone and a celebration of Nigeria’s enduring love for jollof rice.
