According to reports, in a heartfelt moment during the annual Special Holy Ghost Service, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared a profound personal story that resonates deeply with many. The service, themed “Joy Unspeakable,” served as the perfect backdrop for Pastor Adeboye’s poignant testimony. He recounted how, during an evangelism program in Ilesa, Osun State, his health took a severe turn for the worse. “Seven years ago, during this same programme, my body broke down completely due to the terrible road conditions,” Pastor Adeboye revealed. “For the first time in my life, I spent Christmas Day in bed.”

His narration unfolded as he detailed the circumstances surrounding his illness. With his condition deteriorating, Adeboye found himself too weak to travel by road. “To bring me back to the camp, we had to charter a helicopter. I was too weak to travel by road-if I had, I would not have made it,” he stated. The urgency of the situation prompted a helicopter airlift, but not without complications. Miscreants attempted to hinder the helicopter’s takeoff, even causing damage to one of its windows during the chaotic moment.

Despite the challenges, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the role faith played in his recovery. “They clung to the helicopter, and in the process, one of the windows got torn. But by God’s grace, I managed to reach the camp. I had an assurance that if only I could get to the camp, I would recover,” he said.

Seven years later, Pastor Adeboye stood before his congregation, overwhelmed with gratitude for life and health. Reflecting on his journey since that harrowing episode, he passionately urged his audience to join him in thanking God. “Seven years later, I am still here! I want you to thank God for sparing my life. Please, praise Him for me-give Him glory, honor, and adoration,” he urged, inviting the congregation to share in the joy of thanksgiving for life’s blessings.
