I Remember the Day Nyesom Wike Came to Me for Help. I Asked Him If He Was for PDP Or My Party-Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently lauded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike for his exceptional leadership in enhancing Abuja’s infrastructure, Vanguard reports. The President made these comments during a Sallah celebration at the Presidential Villa, where Wike was accompanied by distinguished FCT residents to mark the end of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr.

Referring to Wike as “Mr. Infrastructure,” Tinubu commended his commitment to advancing the capital’s development through various impactful projects. “Seeing this diverse gathering, I must appreciate the Honorable FCT Minister for his dedication. It is truly commendable. I am privileged to be the landlord for all in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory,” he remarked.

Tinubu further acknowledged Wike’s forward-thinking governance style, emphasizing that he had introduced policies that streamlined bureaucratic procedures, fostered innovation within the administration, and expanded opportunities for those disadvantaged by existing property laws.

Reflecting on a past conversation, Tinubu recalled that Wike had requested flexibility on the Treasury Single Account (TSA) to facilitate more progress. “Wike once approached me, saying, ‘Mr. President, please assist us in overcoming the TSA restriction so I can accomplish more.’ I responded, ‘Alright, outline your plans for me.'”

Tinubu humorously admitted that he also evaluated the political implications of Wike’s proposal. “He detailed his strategy, and I offered my own political analysis: ‘Will this boost my party’s (APC) standing in the FCT elections?’ I saw the potential effects on both our parties and advised him that if the benefits were too one-sided, it could pose a challenge for him. He agreed with my reasoning.”

The President praised Wike’s leadership for driving significant progress in the FCT, including the revival of long-neglected projects and improvements in rural areas. He concluded by highlighting the rapid developments that followed their discussion: “We quickly began to see results-abandoned projects were brought back to life, rural communities witnessed transformation, and even the Vice President’s residence, which had been neglected for years, was finally restored.”
