Manchester United are planning to welcome two of the 2024/2025 Premier League season’s standout performers to their ranks over the summer.

Deals could be finalised in a matter of weeks if all goes to plan, with INEOS’ sights now firmly set on prolific duo Liam Delap and Matheus Cunha – both of whom have release clauses worth a respective £30 million and £62.5m.

The players have been heavily linked with moves away from their current clubs in recent months, and are now seeing out what could well be their final matches before making the move up to Manchester when the window opens on June 1.

Delap, 22, would cost £40m in the event Ipswich Town retain their top-flight status. However, the fact they’re 15 points from safety with only five matches remaining has left the Portman Road faithful resigned to spending 2025/2026 in the Championship.

25-year-old Cunha put pen to paper on a four-year contract extension with Wolverhampton Wanderers only two months ago, yet seemingly only did so to ensure he could make a seamless exit by adding his hefty release clause. That way, the Midlands outfit can reinvest the funds on his replacement ready for the new campaign.

Given the pair will cost a whopping £92.5m all-in – assuming the fees aren’t paid in instalments, which United will certainly try to haggle – the Red Devils are considering offloading underwhelming Erik ten Hag signing Rasmus Hojlund.

Albeit a pre-INEOS acquisition, the board sanctioned Hojlund’s arrival for a ludicrous £64m back in 2023, with The Guardian now claiming United value him as low as £30m following a particularly lacklustre league season, in which he’s found the back of the net just three times in 28 games.

Meanwhile, Delap has scored 12 goals in 32 matches and Cunha, 14 in 28.
