Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is facing heartbreak off the pitch after his wife Daniela Jehle announced the end of their seven-year marriage via a bombshell statement on social media.
The couple, who share two children, have called time on their relationship – leaving fans stunned.

Daniela took to her Instagram stories on Thursday, March 6, to break the news, revealing that the decision was made after careful thought.
“Hello all, After careful consideration, Dani and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not an easy one, as you can imagine, but we both believe it is the best step for us. Our joint focus is on doing what is best for our children, ensuring they continue to have a loving and stable environment. We remain committed to working together as parents and treating each other with respect and appreciation as we always have.”
The 35-year-old mother of two added, “During this personal time, we kindly ask for your understanding and for respecting our privacy – especially that of our children. Thank you. With appreciation, Dani & Marc.”
Ter Stegen himself also published the same statement on his verified Instagram page to confirm their separation.
The split comes just one year after the couple welcomed their second child – making the announcement even more surprising.
Daniela and Ter Stegen, 32, tied the knot in 2017 at a private ceremony in Sitges near Barcelona, and their relationship had always seemed rock solid.
Tough Times for Ter Stegen
The break-up adds to what’s already been a difficult period for Ter Stegen.
The German goalkeeper has been sidelined since September with a ruptured patella tendon, which required surgery – ruling him out for most of the season.
Despite his injury, the Barcelona captain remains optimistic about making a comeback.
When asked if he’d return before the season ends, Ter Stegen simply replied: “We’ll see… I’m working on it.”
