JUST IN: ADC Candidate John Nwosu Reaffirms Governorship Bid After Meeting Moghalu DDM News

(DDM) – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Anambra State, John Chuma Nwosu, has reiterated his determination to remain in the race for the 2025 election.

This declaration came following a private meeting with Chief George Moghalu, the Labour Party candidate, who visited Nwosu at his country residence recently.

Reports indicate that the visit took place upon Moghalu’s request, with both candidates engaging in discussions on the upcoming 8th November governorship election in Anambra State.

The meeting focused on a wide range of issues, including the state’s political landscape, governance challenges, and the perceived need for a change in leadership from the incumbent administration.

There had been circulating suggestions that one of the prominent candidates from Nnewi town might step down in favor of the other to consolidate political support.

However, Nwosu has consistently rejected such proposals, insisting that he remains committed to contesting the election on his own merit.

According to a statement issued by Hon. Bonny Okoye, director of Nwosu’s campaign council, the ADC candidate “made very clear his intention to run a clean, focused political campaign until the very end.”

The statement emphasized that the decision on who will lead Anambra State rests entirely with the voters, and not on behind-the-scenes arrangements or withdrawals by any candidate.

Hon. Okoye added that the issue of stepping down “was completely off the table,” reaffirming ADC’s commitment to remain active in the contest until the conclusion of the election.

Political observers note that the upcoming governorship election is shaping up to be highly competitive, with Nnewi producing multiple influential candidates whose political influence extends across the state.

Analysts believe that Nwosu’s firm stance could energize his supporters, especially those who value independent political participation and accountability.

The ADC candidate’s approach appears aimed at running a campaign focused on issues, policy proposals, and voter engagement rather than negotiation-based withdrawals.

With the November election approaching, both Nwosu and Moghalu are expected to intensify their campaigns, engaging communities across the state to secure voter support.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the Nwosu-Moghalu meeting was cordial, with both sides agreeing on the importance of promoting a credible, peaceful, and issue-focused electoral process.

Observers also highlight that such interactions between candidates are significant for reducing tensions, clarifying positions, and ensuring that electoral competition remains transparent.

The ADC candidate’s renewed commitment signals a determination to provide Anambra voters with a clear choice and underscores the democratic principle that leadership selection is ultimately in the hands of the electorate.

Political watchers anticipate that Nwosu’s insistence on remaining in the race could influence strategic calculations among other candidates and may impact voter alliances in key local government areas.

As the election date approaches, the contest in Anambra State promises to attract national attention, given the political stakes and the prominence of the candidates involved.

Nwosu’s campaign, according to insiders, will emphasize grassroots mobilization, community engagement, and issue-based debates, seeking to differentiate his platform from those of other contenders.

With the ADC firmly in the race, voters are expected to witness a competitive and closely contested election where multiple candidates advocate for governance reform, transparency, and socio-economic development.
