Former Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, has accused the federal government of shielding terrorism sponsors despite repeated promises to expose and prosecute them.
In a public letter shared on the Plateau NUJ platform, Dalung said Nigerians are being deceived with diversionary tactics instead of decisive action.
He cited Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, Chairman of the House Committee on Navy, accusing him of campaigning against state police while his constituency in Kanam suffers constant kidnappings, killings, and displacement.
Dalung insisted that the real issue is the refusal to reveal the names of terrorist financiers.
He recalled several allegations linking prominent figures to terrorism.
According to him, Senator Shehu Buba has been accused of sponsoring bandits in Zamfara, while former Governor Nasir El-Rufai alleged that NSA Nuhu Ribadu paid bandits.
Even the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, once promised to publish the names of sponsors, but Nigerians are still waiting.
He condemned the hypocrisy of opposing state police. “Has the federal government managed security or elections any better?” he asked.
He also questioned why terrorists are better armed than Nigerian soldiers despite the ₦3.10 trillion 2025 defense budget.
Dalung argued that the biggest threat to Nigeria is not just terrorists but their sponsors.
He reminded Nigerians that during Buhari’s administration, the UAE submitted names of terrorist financiers, yet no action was taken.
“This silence is deliberate complicity,” he said.
He warned that if the government continues to shield terror financiers, millions of Nigerians risk losing their ancestral lands by 2027.
He added that displaced citizens could then be manipulated during elections. Quoting General Sani Abacha, he said: “If insurgency persists for more than 48 hours, government is involved.”
Dalung backed calls by General T.Y. Danjuma and DSS DG Adeola Ajayi, saying the only solution is constitutional reform.
He demanded the creation of state, local, and community police with full powers, as well as the right for citizens to bear arms.
“Anything less is complicity in Nigeria’s destruction,” he warned.
