JUST IN: Popular Nollywood Actor, Tom Njemanze is Dead

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the passing of veteran actor Tom Njemanze. The actor, known for his roles in classic Nollywood films such as Died Wretched, Issakaba, Osuofia in London, and Stronghold, died on Friday, July 18, after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.
News of his death was confirmed on Saturday, July 19, by movie producer Stanley Ajemba Chibueze, popularly known as Stanley Ontop. Taking to social media, Stanley shared the heartbreaking update alongside a photo of the late actor during his final days.
“Good afternoon everyone it’s another sad period as we just received news from Tom Njemanze family that he has succomed to his ailment and passed on yesterday. May his soul RIP. It’s well. We tried to save him Buh God knows the best. Nollywood lose another legend,” Stanley wrote.
In recent months, Tom Njemanze had made headlines after making a public appeal for help amid his battle with cancer. Videos shared online showed the ailing actor in a hospital bed, frail and surrounded by medical equipment, including an oxygen cylinder and IV drips—images that deeply moved fans and colleagues across the country.
A respected figure in the Nigerian movie scene, Njemanze built a reputation through powerful performances and a deep dedication to his craft. His filmography includes iconic titles such as Magic Cap, Twin Brothers, Last Kobo, My School Mother, and Full Moon, among others.
