Justice Is Coming for Those Extremists Who Murdered Deborah & Vigilante Who Lynched Hunters- Sowore

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called for justice for all victims of mob violence in Nigeria following the recent lynching of innocent northerners in Uromi, Edo State.

Sowore made the statement in a tweet referencing multiple incidents of extra-judicial killings across the country.

“Whether you are a Muslim extremist who murdered student Deborah Samuel in Sokoto or a vigilante who lynched innocent northerners in Uromi, Edo, or @HQNigerianArmy soldiers who extra-judicially murdered Shiite protesters in Abuja, you must face justice for your callous actions without exception,” Sowore tweeted.

His remarks come in the wake of growing concerns over mob actions and retaliatory attacks that have claimed innocent lives. In May 2022, Deborah Samuel, a Christian student in Sokoto was brutally killed by a mob over alleged blasphemy, sparking nationwide outrage.

Similarly, recent reports from Uromi indicate that a group of northerners fell victim to violent reprisals raising fears of ethnic and religious tensions escalating further.

Community leaders and civil society organizations have joined the call for justice, urging authorities to hold perpetrators accountable to prevent further cycles of violence.

Security agencies have also been urged to take swift action in investigating these incidents and ensuring justice is served fairly.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with security challenges, the demand for justice across all ethnic and religious divides remains critical to maintaining peace and unity in the country.
