Kamala Harris Blasts Biden Over ‘Reckless’ Reelection Campaign

Former Vice President Kamala Harris sharply criticizes the decision to leave President Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection bid solely in his hands, calling it “reckless.”
Harris describes how the mantra “It’s Joe and Jill’s decision” mesmerized Democratic decision-makers into inaction. She writes: “Was it grace, or was it recklessness? In retrospect, I think it was recklessness. The stakes were simply too high. This wasn’t a choice that should have been left to an individual’s ego, an individual’s ambition.”
Though she continues to affirm Biden’s competency—”On his worst day, he was… more deeply knowledgeable… more capable of exercising judgment… far more compassionate than Donald Trump on his best”—Harris admits age and fatigue showed. Post-debate exhaustion at age 81 revealed vulnerabilities in the campaign.
Harris also reveals growing frustration with Biden’s inner circle, whom she accuses of sidelining her and failing to protect her from political attacks: “Their thinking was zero-sum: If she’s shining, he’s dimmed.”
Her memoir offers an insider’s look at the pressure-filled summer of 2024: Biden withdrew after a poor debate showing, leaving Harris with just 107 days to campaign before ultimately losing to Donald Trump.
107 Days is scheduled for release on September 23, 2025, promising to reignite internal party debates over leadership, loyalty, and the political cost of deference.
