Man raises alarm as bank mistakenly deletes colleague’s account after $5,000 salary payment

A Nigerian man has raised concerns on social media after his colleague lost access to his mobile bank, Grey account, where a $5,000 salary payment had been deposited.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man explained that his colleague was unable to access his funds after the payment was made.
Upon contacting customer service, they were informed that a system glitch had occurred, resulting in the accidental deletion of the account-without any prior notification.
Expressing frustration over the situation, he wrote:
“Apparently, Grey can’t account for my colleague’s $5,000 salary paid into their account.”
“Their excuse? They had a glitch a few days ago and deleted his account (without notifying him).”
“Money was sent to his account, and now they’re saying they can’t account for it, while the poor boy is left stranded and about to be kicked out of his apartment.”
“Please fix ASAP @greyfinance and @kingidee.”
As the post gained traction online, concerned individuals flooded the comment section, sharing their thoughts and calling for immediate action.
See some reactions below:
@manlike_DiDi: “I was on the TL one time, I saw someone made good remarks about Grey. Went to download and switch from one other service. Was in between setting up my account and while I was on the TL at another time, same person made a painful remark. I pause work. He’s used it for a long time.”
@Winnerkirk: “What pisses me off about them is the lack of a customer support line to call. ACH transfer literally took 3/4 days and still got reversed. Everybody was confused and all we had was twitter chats as support. The only thing they’ve done well is NGN transfers.”
@Timely_Sonia: “A glitch and you can’t trace your customer money trusted with you? Haa!”
@Kali_ops: @greyfinance I got my own pay from the same company so please, review and fix ASAP.”
