Man United director Jean-Claude Blanc steps down from his role

Manchester United director Jean-Claude Blanc has reportedly vacated his current post, but will continue to work for the club in a new role.

The 62-year-old is considered one of the best business and marketing experts in football, with almost two decades of experience in the sport.

The Frenchman served as the CEO and president of Juventus between 2006 and 2011. His main objective was to oversee the club’s stadium project. He then spent the next 11 years of his career serving as Paris Saint-Germain’s CEO, playing an integral role in the club’s rise to prominence on the European stage.

After leaving the Ligue 1 champions in 2022, Blanc was hired by INEOS who assumed control of Man Utd after buying a minority stake at the club.

Blance had a short run as Man Utd CEO between April and July 2024 before being replaced by Omar Berrada. Nevertheless, he remained a member of the club’s board, acting as a director.

But according to several sources in British media, Blanc has now resigned form his director post, but will assume a new role at the club.

“Manchester United confirm Jean-Claude Blanc has stepped down from his position as a director,” posted journalist Rich Fay on his X account.

“However, he will continue to have an active role in the management of the club in his new position as Chief of International Football Relations and Special Adviser to the board.”

Blanc certainly isn’t the first INEOS appointment to be removed from his post. While the Frenchman still has a role at the club, the same cannot be said about United’s former sporting director, Dan Ashworth, who only lasted for five months before terminating his contract on a ‘mutual agreement’ back in December.
