Man United lose against Wolves at home for the first time since 1980

Manchester United’s last match in the Europa League offered optimism but the match against Wolves in the Premier League offered disappointment.

Ruben Amorim’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat against Wolves with Pablo Sarabia scoring the only goal of the match.

The Wolves attacker came on as a substitute and scored a stunning free kick which ensured his team’s win against the Red Devils.

As reported by Sky Sports News’ Peter Stevenson, the win at Old Trafford is Wolves’ first win away to Man United since 1980.

The defeat was Man United’s 15th in the Premier League this season and we are on our way to our worst Premier League season now.

A finish in the bottom half of the table is now guaranteed after a poor result.

It was a match that once again exposed the issues in the squad with Rasmus Hojlund wasting some easy chances.

As soon as the season ends, the United hierarchy and Amorim should be working on a deal to bring a new striker at the club.

While there is still hope for silverware after a disappointing season, it would only act as paper over cracks at the club.

Peter Stevenson reported:

“Another bad day in the Premier League for United, as Wolves record their first win at Old Trafford since 1980.

“It’s their fifth win on the bounce and takes them to 38 points alongside their hosts.

“Hojlund will look back ruefully on a hattrick of missed chances.

“But the winner was spectacular. Sarabia’s strike was unstoppable to condemn United to their 15th league defeat of the season.”

Amorim and the players would be hoping for the season to end soon while all their focus is now on the Europa League.

United face a strong Athletic Bilbao side in the semifinal of the Europa League and the club have to win that now in order to qualify for the Champions League next season.
