Man United scouts watched PSG star Desire Doue vs Liverpool

Manchester United scouted Paris Saint-Germain teenager Desire Doue during the Champions League clash against Liverpool on Wednesday.

The Ligue 1 champions hosted the Reds in the first leg of the Round of 16. Despite dominating the action, the French side failed to beat Alisson Becker who was in superb form between the posts.

In the end, Harvey Elliott emerged as the ultimate hero after scoring just seconds after replacing Mo Salah, thus giving the Premier League runaway leaders a valuable advantage in the double header ahead of next week’s meeting at Anfield.

According to sources close to Stretty News, Man Utd scouts were in attendance at Le Parc des Princes, as they kept a close eye on the sensational Doue.

The 19-year-old is a French winger of Ivorian origins. He made a name for himself last season at Stade Rennais which prompted interest from a host of top European clubs. But in the end, it was PSG who prevailed in the race for the teenager’s coveted signature, splashing €50 million to secure his services.

Doue only got 24 minutes on the pitch against Liverpool, but the Red Devils’ scouts had also attended PSG’s domestic contest against Lille, which saw him start for Luis Enrique’s side, and marking his outing with a goal and an assist.

But while United would love to add one of the finest young jewels in Europe to their ranks, our sources believe it remains a daunting mission, as the Parisians believe Doue is worth more than €100 million at this stage. So it remains unclear if the Reds will eventually translate their interest to concrete action.

The French teenager is originally a winger, but has also played as a midfielder this season, so he should be able to find himself a role in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, most probably as an attacking midfielder alongside Amad Diallo. He would technically replace the likes of Antony and Marcus Rashford who will likely seal permanent moves in the summer.
