Manchester United have reportedly made up their mind, choosing Victor Osimhen as the ideal profile to lead their line next season.

The 26-year-old has been terrorizing defenses on the European stage for years. After making his bones at Lille, he earned a transfer to Napoli where he cemented himself as one of the deadliest strikers in the league, leading the Partenopei towards a historic Serie A triumph in 2023.

However, the Nigerian’s rapport with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis deteriorated during the following campaign, making his departure inevitable. Osimhen and his entourage were hoping for a transfer to the Premier League, but that did not materialise, so the player ended up signing for Galatasaray on loan to avoid spending an entire campaign on the sidelines.

The Lagos native has become a fan favourite in West Istanbul, having already contributed with 20 goals and five assists in all competitions. Nevertheless, he isn’t expected to dwell in Turkiye beyond the current campaign, but should head towards greener pastures next term.

According to Fichajes.net, Osimhen’s destination may well be Carrington, as Man Utd have reportedly informed Napoli their decision to activate the striker’s release clause at the end of the season in an operation will cost the Red Devils €75 million.

The Premier League giants will be desperate to sign a top-notch centre-forward in the summer, as Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have proven insufficient, even though the club’s problems go way beyond these two young strikers.

So while Osimhen might not solve all problems at United, it would certainly be a decent start, as we’re talking about a player who’s considered amongst the best strikers in the world. For our money, he would be a much better choice than Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic who’s also being linked with the Reds.
