Man Utd set to compete with Liverpool for Rayan Cherki

Manchester United have reportedly entered the fray for Olympique Lyonnais’ talented winger Rayan Cherki who is wanted at some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Although he’s still only 21, the Frenchman has been on the scene for several years now. The talented winger started his career at OL and was promoted to the first team back in January 2020 when he was only 16 years of age.
Nevertheless, Cherki is currently enjoying what is arguably the best campaign of his young professional career. He has already contributed with eight goals and ten assists in all competitions. In his most recent act, he scored a last-minute equalizer against United in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals, setting up the stage for a fiery contest at Old Trafford this Thursday.
Cherki was widely expected to leave the Ligue 1 side last summer, but the management convinced him to stay and renew his contract for another year. But with the deadline now set for June 2026, Lyon would certainly want to sell him this time around to avoid the risk of losing him for free a year later.

This situation has attracted a host of suitors, including Liverpool who are reportedly hot on the player’s heels.
But according to CaughtOffside, Man Utd are also following the situation closely, as they could decide to launch a summer onslaught for the youngster who was described as a ‘wizard’ and a ‘genius’ by former Arsenal defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
The French-Algerian is capable of playing with both feet, so he can seamlessly fit almost anywhere in the final third. Nevertheless, his favourite position is arguably on the right wing, which makes him a natural replacement for Antony.
The 25-year-old Brazilian is currently on loan at Real Betis, and the Red Devils are hoping to capitalise on his improved form to find him a buyer in the summer.
