Manchester United's Star Makes Changes to His Name to Honor Nigerian Heritage and Religious Values

Manchester United has recently witnessed changes in player names, with Chido Obi dropping ‘Martin’ from his name, and Danish player Patrick Dorgu now going by Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu as reported by Daily Express.

The addition of “Chinazaekpere,” meaning “God answers prayers” in Igbo, was made at the request of Dorgu’s family to honor their Nigerian heritage and religious values.

His updated name is now reflected on the official Manchester United website, the team’s lineup sheets, and in the United Review programme.

The 20-year-old Dorgu joined United from Lecce during the winter transfer window for a reported £25 million, potentially increasing to £29 million.

He has made six appearances for the club so far, although he missed three games after receiving a red card in United’s 3-2 Premier League win over Ipswich Town.

Having completed his suspension, the Danish international is expected to return to the pitch when Manchester United faces Nottingham Forest in their upcoming Premier League match.

Dorgu recently played an important role in United’s 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the Europa League, where he won a penalty and was involved in the incident leading to Jon Aramburu’s red card.

Dorgu’s performances have continued to impress on the international stage as well, contributing an assist during Denmark’s Nations League match against Portugal, despite the team’s 5-2 loss.
