NDLEA Nabs India-Bound Brothers in Major Drug Busts

Lagos, Nigeria , 6, March, 2025— The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has secured major victories in its crackdown on drug trafficking.

Recently, officers arrested two brothers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) for smuggling 5 kilograms of cocaine.

Notably, the suspects hid the drugs inside their suitcase linings before attempting to board a flight to India.

Acting swiftly on intelligence, NDLEA operatives intercepted John Abugu, 43, and Kenneth Abugu, 31, on April 3, 2025.

During a meticulous search, they discovered whitish powder later confirmed as cocaine.

Surprisingly, the brothers claimed they were traveling for medical treatment despite the damning evidence.

In a parallel operation, authorities arrested Parker Darren Hazekia Osei, a 20-year-old Ghanaian-British student, at MMIA.

Specifically, he carried 19.40 kilograms of Loud cannabis, which he admitted to transporting from Thailand.

Meanwhile, in Kogi State, NDLEA officers stopped Ngozi Ogili, 33, with methamphetamine en route to Abuja.

Subsequently, a follow-up raid in Abuja’s Apo mechanic area uncovered more synthetic cannabis.

Similarly, in Abia State, officers arrested 75-year-old Nna Nnanna Felix with 1.6 kilograms of skunk.

Additionally, they apprehended David Chinemerem, 21, with 2,050 pentazocine ampoules in Aba.

Further north, NDLEA intercepted Abdullahi Adamu in Yobe State with codeine syrup and tramadol.

Likewise, Anambra State raids led to the seizure of 195,000 tramadol pills and other drugs.

In Abuja, Sunday Ayogu was caught with 25 kilograms of skunk and methamphetamine.

Remarkably, NDLEA also targeted cannabis farms in Cross River State, destroying 250,000 kilograms of the drug.

Beyond enforcement, the agency intensified awareness campaigns under its WADA initiative.

For instance, they educated students in Anambra and Katsina States.

Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the agency’s balanced strategy, emphasizing supply reduction and demand prevention.

Ultimately, these efforts highlight NDLEA’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s public health and security.
