Newlywed bride arrested for stabbing husband to death

Police in Kano State have arrested a newlywed bride, simply identified as Saudat, for allegedly stabbing her husband, Salisu, just nine days after their wedding.
The unfortunate incident occurred in the Farawa community of Kano on Monday night, following their marriage ceremony on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
News Band gathered that the marriage was arranged by the couple’s relatives and lacked mutual affection.
Salisu had reportedly expressed reservations about the union but was persuaded by family members to proceed.
Though, while the actual circumstances leading to the fatal face-off remain unclear, community members allege that Saudat may have poisoned her husband before stabbing him during an argument.
The incident sparked outrage in the community, with angry youths attempting to lynch the suspect.
However, prompt intervention by security operatives prevented mob action, and Saudat was taken into custody.
Meanwhile, Kano State police command is yet to issue an official statement in respect to the development.
