NSCDC Assures Nnewi South Mayor Of Improved Presence

The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, Comdt. Maku Olatunde has highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Local Government authorities and security agencies in maintaining peace and security in Anambra State.

Commandant Maku stated this over the weekend when he received Hon. Van- George Ezeogidi, the Mayor of Nnewi South Local Government Area, of Anambra State on a familiarization visit at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters Awka.
Maku assured the Mayor of the Command’s commitment to swift and professional responses to any emerging security threats in the LGA with special focus on intelligence – driven operations on major flashpoints within the council area.
The NSCDC State helmsman emphasised that the Command will leave no stone unturned in tackling crime and called for collaboration and information sharing between the NSCDC and communities within the council area to effectively combat crime and maintain peace in the area.
Responding, Hon. George’s Chinedu thanked the NSCDC for its contributions to the security measures put in place to ensure Anambra State is free from crimes and criminality.
Hon. Chinedu expressed satisfaction with the NSCDC performance under Commandant Maku’s command, promising to partner with the Corps in its efforts in the protection of Critical National State and Local Government Assets and infrastructure particularly in making Nnewi South safe for residents to carry out their lawful businesses.
The visit ended with an agreement with both parties to work through intelligence sharing to identify and address the causes of the security challenges in the Local Government.
