NSCDC Sensitizes Anambra Students On Security Tips

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has embarked on a sensitization campaign across selected schools in Awka metropolis on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
The NSCDC Anambra State Commandant, Comdt. Maku Olatunde stated that in alignment with the Commandant General’s vision for a secure and safe learning environment, the command has intensified visits to schools targeted at creating awareness, educating students and teachers on the Safe School Initiative, aimed at addressing rising security threats around schools nationwide.
Speaking on behalf of the State Commandant, Superintendent of Corps Afunanya Nneka, the Anambra NSCDC Safe School Coordinator, stated that the visit provided a valuable opportunity to sensitize students and teachers on their critical roles in gathering credible intelligence and reporting suspected movements around the school environment.
In a lively lecture series, SC. Sopuruchi Henry Ukwu, Head of Gender Based Unit exposed the students on physical security, emergency procedures, gender based violence red flags, security threats and necessary steps to take, requisite skills for safe learning, and social cohesion necessary to be safe through credible information sharing with relevant security agencies
The management of Grace Hills International School, Okpuno, Awka, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for the Safe School Initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that will positively impact the students’ conduct and security awareness.
During an interactive session, teachers and students had the opportunity to raise queries, which were promptly addressed by the NSCDC officials, providing clarity and enhancing understanding of the Safe School Initiative..
