NYSC DG inspires Corps members toward Nation-building, self-reliance

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, Director General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), rallied corps members at the Wannune orientation camp in Benue State on Friday.

He urged them to serve Nigeria diligently while embracing discipline and financial prudence.

Speaking passionately, Nafiu reminded the youth of their leadership potential, stating, “NYSC shapes tomorrow’s leaders—serve faithfully and unite our diverse nation.”

He also emphasized proper conduct, advising, “Dress how you wish to be addressed; you represent the government.”

During the camp tour, the DG inspected Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) exhibits, praising innovative projects by corps members.

He donated two cows to celebrate both the camp’s success and a corps member’s birthday, boosting morale.

Benue State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Veronica Garba, reported 1,558 corps members (753 males, 804 females) completed their April oath-taking.

She applauded their discipline and highlighted SAED offerings like solar installation, fashion design, and ICT training.

Mr. Pupshik Sumpe, SAED Head, encouraged corps members to persist with their acquired skills post-camp.

“For the dedicated, success awaits,” he affirmed, underscoring the program’s practical benefits.

This visit reinforced NYSC’s dual focus on national service and self-employment, equipping youths to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s growth while securing their futures.

The DG ‘s engagement left corps members motivated to translate training into tangible community impact and personal enterprise.
