Obaze Alleges Politicians Are Sponsoring Attacks on Obi Ahead of 2027

Oseloka Obaze, former Anambra State SSG and once close ally of Peter Obi, has warned that a calculated campaign is underway to discredit the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate as Nigeria heads toward the 2027 elections. Obaze, now Managing Director of Selonnes Consult, disclosed the concerns via a post on his social media.
Obaze alleges that certain politicians with vested interests have mobilized well-funded media operatives and online trolls to undermine Obi’s credibility. He asserted:
“Some politicians with vested interests are already fighting back. They are strategically deploying all forms of trolls and subterfuge to demarket Peter Obi. Corruption is also fighting back, albeit covertly. The onslaught against Peter Obi is so well-oiled and funded; you’d think he is the only person running for the presidency in 2027.”
The ex-diplomat contends that the attacks are motivated by both fear and recognition of Obi’s growing appeal, especially among Nigeria’s youth. He warned that these smear tactics are unfolding well in advance of the 2027 presidential race.
At this time, neither Peter Obi nor the Labour Party has issued a formal response to Obaze’s allegations.
