Osun Lawmakers refute Oke’s claims of PDP decline, defection

Two Osun State lawmakers, Adewumi Adeyemi Irekandu (Obokun) and Kanmi Ajibola (Oriade), have strongly rejected claims by federal legislator Oluwole Oke that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is losing relevance.

Instead, they affirmed the party’s stronghold, emphasizing its unwavering focus on governance and development.

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the lawmakers addressed Oke’s recent defection, dismissing its significance.

They clarified that his exit does not reflect the political dynamics in Oriade and Obokun, where the PDP remains dominant.

“Hon. Wole Oke may hold the federal seat temporarily, but he has lost touch with the people’s will,” they declared.

Furthermore, they refuted Oke’s claims of local leader endorsements, calling them outright falsehoods.

They stressed that all council chairmen, vice chairmen, councillors, and appointees in both constituencies remain loyal to the PDP.

“Our party structure is strong, united, and dedicated to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s good governance agenda,” they asserted.

Additionally, Irekandu and Ajibola highlighted the PDP’s grassroots support and proven track record as reasons for its enduring strength.

They noted that Oriade and Obokun prioritize service and substance over political theatrics.

“Here, politics is about real impact, not empty noise,” they added.

Moreover, the lawmakers expressed confidence in voters’ discernment, assuring that future elections would reflect the people’s will.

“When the time comes, the electorate will respond decisively at the ballot,” they stated.

This statement reinforces the PDP’s determination to maintain its influence in Osun State despite defections.

Ultimately, the lawmakers reiterated their commitment to the PDP and its governance principles.

They emphasized that the party’s focus remains on delivering development, not engaging in political distractions.

Their message underscores the PDP’s resilience and the electorate’s steadfast support in Osun State.
