Anambra Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu says passengers who dispose refuse on the roads from moving vehicles will be arrested.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the Commissioner while speaking in Awka, emphasized on the need for residents to be mindful of their environmental practices.
Dr. Odimegwu, who condemned the indiscriminate disposal of wastes, stressed the need for the state residents to see maintenance of a clean and healthy environment as a shared responsibility, rather than a duty of the government alone.
He urged park owners and drivers to educate their passengers on the importance of complying with the government’s environmental regulations, warning that the state government will not only arrest offenders but also will hold drivers accountable and confiscate any vehicle involved in such violations.
