Pension “Scam”: Retired Police Officers Insist On Father Of All Protests Sept. 29

Retired police officers, under the auspices of the Great Association of Retired Police Officers, have insisted on September 29, 2025, for the “Father Of All Protests” over what they described as “Pension Scam”.
In a memo made available to Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), the organising committee of the group recommended for the father of all protest to hold September 29 and beyond.
The retired police officers, describing the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) as “deadly and obnoxious”, insist that they are “suffering under CPS”.
One retiree regretted that this is not “Contributory Pension Scheme”; this is “Contributory Pension Scam!”
They, therefore, demanded a total exit from the “scam”.
The memo, signed by the Chairman of the Committee for Protest, Comrade Elder Greg Amayo, reads:
“We, the entire members of the great association of retired Police Officers suffering under CPS have unanimously agreed that we need total exit from the deadly and obnoxious Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
“Since the government is not fastidious in handling the issue through NASS and endangered by the threats and deceits from IGP, DG PENCOM and cohorts, we have resorted to protests in order to achieve our aims and objectives.”
The would-be protesters stated that they will not leave the protest scene, even if the bill is passed by the National Assembly, until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signs it to law.
The following is the Protest Committee’s recommendation on how to prepare and execute the protest:
- 29/09/2025 is slated for the “Father of all Peaceful Protests” which is meant to be indefinite until our Bills is consented to by President Tinubu.
- State Chapters bothering Abuja should provide as many participants as they can to make a great number. Such States are: plateau, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, Kaduna and kwara States.
- Abuja/FCT metropolis should provide 30 or more participants.
- Other States outside the above should provide at least 10 participants each.
- State Chapters should pay the sum of
N100,000 each to the general purse. To meet up with this, members are advised to contribute at leastN3,000 or above to their state chapters to make remittance to the national purse easy and possible. - Contacts could be made to friends and well-wishers, including serving members, for financial assistance.
- Two canopies to be hired and pinned down at the NASS gate. Members are advised to come with cooking utensils, matt, sleeping gowns, Bible/Quran.
- States to provide transportation for its members to Abuja.
- Placards to read simple and short description of what we are concerned with.
- No to DG PENCOM and cohorts so that we don’t fall victim of their gimmicks.
- We shall try as much as possible to be one in one single decision while carrying out the protest.
- The chosen leader of this protest is CM CSP Mannir Lawal Zaria Retd., who led the last protest.
- IGP’s mathematical and DG PENCOM pension reform ideas are not acceptable.
- Whatever good or bad that is experienced in exit from CPS by AIG – IGP and other sister agencies will be accepted by us in all humility.
- Each State Chapter should prepare a banner of 4 ft by 5 ft length and breadth to suite our purpose. Sample your inscription to the committee for editing to avoid duplications.
- We shall not leave the scene even if the bill is passed by NASS until the President signs it to law.
It could be recalled that Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reported that some junior police officers had protested on July 21, 2025, against what they described as “slavery in uniform”.
The officers threw the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force led by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, as well as other senior police officers as currently in an ultra-panic mode.
The police officers, speaking about the protest, described police service as “slavery in uniform”.
The leadership of the Nigeria Police Force as well as other senior police officers were, consequently, thrown into panic.
The rattled Inspector-General of Police mandated all Commissioners of Police to use all available means to stop the protest.
