Peter Obi, George Moghalu storm Nimo for mini rally hosted by Hon. Ozodinobi DDM News

(DDM) – Political excitement filled the air in Nimo community, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State today as Mr. Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, and frontline Labour Party governorship aspirant, George Moghalu, stormed the town for a mini rally.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the event was organized by the Deputy Minority Whip of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. George Ozodinobi Aja-Ajanze, who represents Njikoka II constituency.
The rally, described as a grassroots mobilization meeting, attracted hundreds of supporters, community leaders, and youth groups.
Obi, who remains one of the most influential political figures in Nigeria, received a rousing welcome from cheering residents who chanted his name and waved Labour Party flags.
His presence underscored his enduring popularity across Anambra and the South-East.
George Moghalu, now a governorship hopeful under the Labour Party platform, also addressed the crowd.
His presence at the event was particularly significant, signaling his growing engagement with the grassroots as the state edges closer to its governorship election.
Hon. Ozodinobi, the host, told the crowd that the mini rally was designed to strengthen unity among his constituents and provide a platform for major political leaders to interact directly with the people.
He thanked both Obi and Moghalu for honoring the invitation, calling their participation a sign of solidarity with the masses.
Background checks by DDM show that Obi, a two-term governor of Anambra State, continues to enjoy immense goodwill in his home state despite not holding public office.
Since the 2023 elections, he has remained vocal on governance, accountability, and economic reforms. His decision to join the rally in Nimo further reinforced his image as a grassroots leader.
Moghalu, on his part, is positioning himself as one of the Labour Party’s strongest aspirants for the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
Known for his long-standing involvement in state politics, his participation in the Nimo rally gave further weight to his campaign efforts and provided an opportunity to connect directly with ordinary citizens.
Analysts believe the mini rally could serve as an early marker of Labour Party’s grassroots consolidation strategy in Anambra.
Obi’s towering influence within the state and Moghalu’s determination to secure the governorship ticket reflect a possible alignment that may shape the political atmosphere in the coming months.
For residents of Nimo, however, today’s event was less about speculation and more about recognition.
Community members described the rally as historic, noting that it was rare for such high-profile Labour Party leaders to converge in their town at the same time.
