Peter Obi, Soludo hail Prophet Ebuka Obi as Zion Ministry opens free psychiatric and elderly home in Anambra

(DDM) – History was made in Anambra State this weekend as former governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, and incumbent governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, jointly welcomed Senior Prophet Chukwuebuka Anozie Obi, spiritual leader of the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach (ZPMO), to the state for the inauguration of a groundbreaking social welfare project.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that Prophet Ebuka Obi and the Zion Ministry officially unveiled a free psychiatric and elderly care home in Anambra, a facility set up to cater for the mentally challenged, the abandoned elderly, and other vulnerable groups in society.
The centre, built and donated by the Zion Ministry, marks the first of its kind in the region and has been described as a life-changing intervention for families who struggle with mental health and elderly care challenges.
Supporters at the event said that the development fulfilled a long-awaited dream in Anambra, where access to psychiatric facilities and elderly homes has historically been limited.
Many hailed Prophet Ebuka Obi as “a man sent by God” whose ministry is redefining spirituality by blending faith with tangible social projects.
Peter Obi, who has built a reputation for promoting health and education projects, described the initiative as “a blessing not just to Anambra, but to Nigeria.”
He praised the Zion Ministry for showing that faith-based organizations can go beyond preaching to deliver practical solutions to social problems.
Governor Soludo, in his remarks, commended the project as a model of community service and humanitarian leadership.
He pledged his administration’s support to ensure that the facility receives the necessary operational backing from the state.
Prophet Ebuka Obi, in an emotional address, explained that the facility was inspired by the vision of the Zion Altar, which emphasizes love, healing, and care for the forgotten.
He declared that the project was fully funded by contributions from the ministry without political sponsorship, stressing that it was “for the people and by the people.”
Background checks by DDM show that the Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, headquartered in Lagos, has become one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing revival ministries, attracting millions of followers across the world.
Known for his fiery preaching and prophetic declarations, Prophet Ebuka Obi has in recent years expanded the ministry’s focus into philanthropy, including scholarships, charity outreaches, and health initiatives.
At the inauguration, witnesses described scenes of joy and tears as mentally challenged persons and abandoned elderly individuals were symbolically welcomed into the facility. “Many people will cry blood today,” one supporter said, referencing the joy of seeing lives restored through the ministry’s intervention.
Analysts say the project could redefine the role of religious institutions in Nigeria, at a time when the country faces worsening economic hardship, rising mental health cases, and inadequate public care facilities.
For many in Anambra and beyond, the free psychiatric and elderly home is more than a building, it is a symbol of compassion, hope, and a reminder that faith can be a force for social transformation.
