Phyna Accuses Dangote Group of Cover-Up After Sister’s Accident in Auchi

Nigerian reality TV star and actress, Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has accused the Dangote Group of attempting to shield those responsible for a truck accident that left her younger sister critically injured.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Phyna alleged that a Dangote truck crushed her sister in Auchi, Edo State, and that the Nigerian Police, acting under the company’s influence, removed the vehicle’s plate number. She claimed one of the firm’s managers was expected to visit the police station instead of ensuring her sister received urgent attention.

“All that has happened, you decided to rather tell the Nigerian Police to remove the plate number on the truck that crushed my sister… If that truck and your driver should leave that station, I will be right back, I’m attending to my sister first,” Phyna wrote, adding, “Na money you get, you no be God. But my God is bigger. Enough is enough.”

Veteran actress Kate Henshaw also weighed in via X (formerly Twitter), confirming the incident and stating that the victim, who graduated from university only six days earlier, had already undergone amputation of one leg, with the other at risk. Henshaw alleged that the truck driver initially fled the scene but was chased down by an eyewitness lecturer. She further claimed that police officers have denied the victim’s family and students access to the detained truck.

“This @DangoteGroup truck in police custody in Auchi has hit a young girl… The license plate has been removed. Police are refusing the family and students access. She is the junior sister to @unusualphyna. Whoever owns the truck should own up,” Henshaw wrote, urging the Nigerian Police and Lagos Police PRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, to ensure justice is served.

As of press time, the Dangote Group has not issued an official statement responding to the allegations. The Nigerian Police have also yet to comment on the claims of interference and obstruction of justice.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians calling for transparency, accountability, and immediate legal action against those responsible.
