Police ban all Durbar activities in Kano

Police authorities in Kano State have banned all Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr Sallah festivities.

Ibrahim Bakori, the state commissioner of police, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

He said the decision was prompted by security concerns and the need to maintain public order.

Bakori stressed the importance of ensuring a peaceful and secure environment during the festivities.

According to him, security assessments revealed growing tensions and potential threats associated with the Durbar.

“Following credible intelligence reports of orchestrated plans by miscreants and their sponsors to exploit the Durbar for disruptive activities, the Command, in consultation with the Kano State Government and other key stakeholders, has decided to prohibit all Durbar activities across the state,” CP Bakori stated.

He called on worshippers to comply with security guidelines, including avoiding the carrying of unnecessary objects that could cause suspicion and strict prohibition of horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, and reckless driving.

“As we celebrate, let us remember that peace is paramount. We must put aside our differences and work together as law-abiding citizens for the progress of our state and nation,” he said.
