Port Harcourt-based Prophet Miracle is in a coma after collapsing in police custody.

Port Harcourt-based Prophet Miracle is in a coma after collapsing in police custody.

According to Reports, Prophet Umueke Miracle, the leader of the Dynamic Flame of Fire and Miracle Ministries, has been hospitalized at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) after collapsing while in police custody at the Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The incident follows the arrest of Prophet Miracle in connection with the illegal confinement of his wife, Success Miracle, whom he allegedly detained for five days in a house in the GRA area of Port Harcourt. His arrest came after SaharaReporters exposed the situation, leading to police intervention.

Prophet Miracle was arrested after he honored a police invitation to appear at the station. The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, confirmed that the case had been assigned to the State CID for further investigation.

Following his detention, reports emerged that the prophet collapsed at the CID headquarters on Sunday night and was immediately transferred to UPTH for medical treatment. Sources close to the situation revealed that he is currently in a coma.

A source speaking to SaharaReporters stated, “He collapsed due to the pressure following the media exposure. He was rushed to the hospital late on Sunday and has remained unconscious.”

The conflict between Prophet Miracle and his wife, Success, has reportedly been ongoing for years, stemming from allegations of financial control and domestic abuse.

In an earlier interview with SaharaReporters, Success recounted how her husband imposed strict financial restrictions on her since their marriage in 2017. She claimed that he forbade her from opening a bank account or earning an independent income while also refusing to provide her with personal funds.

“Whenever we had issues, he would place me under house arrest. He made sure I had no access to money or the ability to open a bank account. Meanwhile, he wasn’t providing for my personal needs either,” Success explained.

She alleged that Prophet Miracle was accumulating wealth under his name while engaging in extramarital affairs. When she confronted him about financial security, he dismissed her concerns, insisting that church funds could not be used for personal settlements.

Faced with financial difficulties, Success secretly opened an Access Bank account and started a small business selling water and ministry supplies. Some ministry staff members supported her, helping with sales and depositing proceeds into the account.

However, Prophet Miracle eventually discovered the account after tricking bank staff into revealing her balance. According to Success, he falsely claimed he intended to deposit ₦500 million into her account, leading the bank staff to disclose her financial details.

Upon discovering her independent business, he accused her of theft and running an unauthorized enterprise under his ministry. On Tuesday night, he reportedly forced her into his car and drove her to a house in GRA, Port Harcourt, where he held her in confinement and confiscated her phones to prevent her from reaching out for help.

“He told me he was going to sue me, and he kept me there since Tuesday night. It’s not a prison, but a normal house that I believe he rented,” Success stated.

Following public outcry and media coverage, there were allegations that Prophet Miracle had strong influence over police authorities in the state, raising concerns that the case would be suppressed. However, when contacted, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, dismissed these claims and ordered an immediate police intervention.

A team led by DPO Abacha was dispatched to the location, successfully freeing Success from detention and arresting Prophet Miracle.

Reacting to allegations of police bias, CP Adepoju stated, “I don’t know any pastor. How can I allow someone to be locked inside a house? Am I an animal? Even a DPO wouldn’t allow that. People tend to exaggerate issues just to make them sound more serious.”

He added, “They’ll say, ‘someone is dead,’ just to get police attention. Then, when we arrive, they admit no one died but that their husband was beating them. That’s how false narratives spread. I don’t know this pastor; they say his name is Pastor Miracle. I was raised well and do not support such acts.”

As of now, Prophet Miracle remains in a coma at UPTH, while investigations into the case continue. Authorities have assured the public that justice will be served, and the case will not be swept under the rug.

Meanwhile, Success has been placed under police protection and is reportedly cooperating with investigators.

The situation has sparked discussions on financial control and domestic abuse in marriages, with activists calling for stronger legal protections for women in similar circumstances.
