President Tinubu To Host Super Falcons Today After WAFCON Victory

There are indications that President Bola Tinubu will host the Super Falcons and officials of Nigeria’s women’s national football team at the Presidential Villa today.
This became feasible as the Nigerian team were expected to land in Abuja on Sunday night after their return from Morocco.
The team pulled off a stunning comeback victory over the host nation in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final to carry the day.
The Falcons, trailing by two goals at one point, fought back bravely to defeat the Atlas Lionesses 3-2 in a thrilling contest.
The trophy marks Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title.
President Tinubu had earlier called the team to congratulate them on their victory, and approved the payment of their long-overdue bonuses and allowances just before the final.
Sources close to the presidency believes the players and officials will receive generous rewards from the president in recognition of their heroic efforts and their success in bringing home yet another continental title.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has been in high spirit since the Super Falcons won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Commending the team, Tinubu said that have lifted our spirits. “You are a pride to your generation and we are all very happy,” Tinubu stated.
