Real Madrid showing ‘active’ interest in Man United star Kobbie Mainoo

Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Kobbie Mainoo whose future at Manchester United remains anything but certain.
According to Fichajes.net, Los Merengues would like to add the 19-year-old to their ranks, even though they already possess what many consider to be the strongest midfield unit in the world, featuring the likes of Jude Bellingham, Edoardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchaoumeni, Fede Valverde, in addition to the iconic Luka Modric.
As the source explains, snapping up Mainoo might not be an urgent need for the reigning European champions, especially with Dani Ceballos showing encouraging signs as of late. However, Los Blancos are always attentive on the market, and the teenager could represent a tempting opportunity, as they could add him to their young contingent.
This would allow the young Englishman to reunite with his national teammate Bellingham who has been a key player for the club since making the move from Borussia Dortmund to Madrid in the summer of 2023.
Kobbie Mainoo lands on Real Madrid radar

Moreover, it should be noted that Mainoo has been reportedly unhappy with his contract negotiations with INEOS who haven’t been able to find a breakthrough on this front, even though Sir Jim Ratcliffe insisted he’d like to keep him and fellow Man Utd youngster Alejandro Garnacho at Old Trafford.
The England international remains one of the club’s lowest earners with a reported weekly salary of £10,000, which is only a fraction of what some of their teammates are making, especially the likes of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
Mainoo remains a widely popular figure at Old Trafford, and club legend Paul Scholes had hailed him as a ‘special’ player when he led the Red Devils towards FA Cup glory last season. However, the club must address his contract situation sooner rather than later to ward off unwanted suitors like Real Madrid and Chelsea who are also on the player’s trail.
