Siegel recounted witnessing “literal torture,” detailing the sexual abuse inflicted on female captives. He and his wife, Aviva, were initially taken into underground tunnels, where they faced constant threats and lived in suffocating conditions. Following Aviva’s release during a brief ceasefire, Siegel’s treatment worsened dramatically.

He described being subjected to physical violence, starvation, and psychological manipulation. His captors would eat in front of him while denying him food, and he was allowed only monthly showers with cold water. They shaved his head and private parts, acts he perceived as deliberate humiliation.

Siegel emphasized the psychological toll of his captivity, revealing that he felt completely dependent on his captors for survival. He lived in constant fear of abandonment and faced the torment of deciding whether to attempt escape, knowing he lacked the means to survive alone.

Even after his release, Siegel remains deeply concerned about the remaining hostages, 24 of whom are believed to still be alive in Gaza. His testimony highlights the extreme cruelty and suffering endured by those held captive by Hamas.
