Rivers Crisis: We’ll Shock Tinubu if Fubara’s Impeached – Egbesu

As reported by Newsmen, following remarks by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that “heaven would not fall” if Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is impeached, the Supreme Egbesu Assembly (SEA) has issued a stern warning, vowing to “shock” President Bola Tinubu if such an event occurs.
SEA, an ancestral traditional institution of the Ijaw people, strongly condemned Wike’s stance, accusing him of political recklessness and arrogance toward the Ijaw nation.
Chairman of SEA, Werinipre Digifa, in a statement on Wednesday, held President Tinubu responsible for Wike’s actions, alleging that the President has failed to rein in the former Rivers governor.
“Tinubu should be held responsible for the recklessness and arrogance Wike is exhibiting against the Ijaw nation. Wike preempted the Supreme Court judgment and the case went exactly the way he wanted it to go,” Digifa stated.
He further accused Wike of manipulating the judiciary to suit his political agenda, describing Nigeria as a “banana republic” where due process is disregarded.
Despite their strong opposition, Digifa emphasized that the Ijaw people would not resort to violence if Fubara were removed from office.
“If they impeach Fubara, we will not go into violence because Ijaw people don’t believe in violence. We will take everything in good faith,” he added.
However, he made it clear that the Ijaw nation is closely observing the unfolding political events, warning against what he described as the continued harassment and intimidation of the Rivers governor.
