Rivers must not relapse into crisis, Ibas tells Fubara, lawmakers

Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (rtd), has called on political actors in the state to put aside their differences and work together for the development of the State.

He made the appeal during an Inter-Denominational Church Thanksgiving Service at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt, which marked the end of the six-month state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu.

Ibas urged politicians, stakeholders, and community leaders to reflect on the lessons of the past months and prioritize the unity of the state, setting aside personal ambitions.

He emphasized that the progress and prosperity of Rivers State must be placed above selfish considerations, and politics should not be an excuse to destroy the state.

Ibas noted that the seeds of reconciliation had been planted and urged stakeholders to make the necessary sacrifices to nurture them, promoting forgiveness, tolerance, and love.

He encouraged the youths to avoid violence and channel their energy into building and sustaining peace, while also committing to learning and creating for the future of the state.

The service was attended by prominent figures, including the Chief Judge, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, and local government chairmen, who offered prayers for the state and its people.

Ibas expressed gratitude to God for preserving the lives of Rivers people and granting peace to the state, allowing for the successful conduct of local government elections and the rebuilding of the House of Assembly complex.

He urged all stakeholders to put Rivers State first and work towards stability and prosperity for future generations.
