Russia Waging Hybrid War on NATO Through Airspace Violations

Yuriy Boyechko, head of Hope for Ukraine, claims that Russia is conducting a “hybrid war” against NATO, citing repeated airspace violations and limited responses from the alliance.
His remarks follow a recent incident in Estonia where three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets entered Estonian airspace for approximately 12 minutes without permission. Estonia has recorded five such breaches this year.
Boyechko urged NATO to respond more assertively and likened the pressure on Moscow to how Turkey dealt with a Russian airspace violation in 2015 when it shot down a jet. Meanwhile, Russia’s defense ministry insists that none of the flights violated state borders and claims all were consistent with international airspace regulations.
He warned that President Vladimir Putin may be testing NATO’s limits, attempting to sow fear among citizens and influence political leanings toward pro-Russian ideology.
