Sanwo-Olu awards N10 Million to LASU’s top graduate

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State proudly awarded N10 million to Nwosu Isioma Sybil, Lagos State University’s (LASU) best graduate, during its 28th convocation.

This gesture underscores his administration’s unwavering commitment to empowering youth through quality education.

Nwosu, a Biochemistry scholar, achieved a stellar 4.93 CGPA, setting a record for academic excellence.

Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, representing Sanwo-Olu, praised her perseverance, calling her achievement a beacon of inspiration for aspiring scholars.

The ceremony also celebrated 17 PhD graduates and honored distinguished personalities with honorary doctorates.

Furthermore, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that academic success holds equal value to triumphs in sports or entertainment.

He highlighted partnerships with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), ensuring Lagos students access federal loans.

These efforts aim to democratize higher education, bridging gaps for indigenes and residents alike.

“Education remains society’s backbone,” Sanwo-Olu declared, urging leaders to prioritize systems that solve real-world challenges.

In her address, Prof. Olatunji-Bello highlighted infrastructural advancements and academic reforms, thanking the governor and staff for their collaboration.

Meanwhile, the convocation honored former Deputy Governor Femi Pedro and NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa with honorary doctorates for their contributions to national development.

Prof. Joseph Olagunju also received a distinguished professorship, celebrating his academic impact.
