Soludo’s Human Capital and Social Agenda Shines As Anambra State Wins Nine Awards at the 2025 Presidential Teachers and Schools Excellence Awards

In what could be described as a harvest of awards for the Soludo administration, Anambra State schools exhibited their preeminent position of excellence at the just-concluded Presidential Teachers and Schools Excellence Awards 2025, winning a total of nine prestigious awards. This reaffirms the state’s position as the best among equals in education in Nigeria.

The event, held at Eagle Square in Abuja, featured the award of prizes for the best teachers and schools in both public and private primary and secondary schools in Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT, Abuja.

Woliwo Primary School, Onitsha, emerged as the overall best primary school in Nigeria, receiving a Star Prize of a brand-new 16-seater bus. Pinkberry International School, Odume Obosi, clinched the first runner-up prize for the best-approved private primary schools in Nigeria.

For the teachers’ awards, Mr. Emmanuel Ndibe of St. Theresa Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu, won the first runner-up prize for the best-approved private senior secondary school teacher in Nigeria. Mrs. Nkechi Ikedi of Pinkberry International Primary School, Odume Obosi, won the first runner-up prize for the best-approved private primary school teacher in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Girls Secondary School, GSS Ojoto clinched the second position in the best public junior secondary school in Nigeria while Mr. Cosmas Nwata of Igbariam Farm Settlement Primary School took the second position in the best public primary school teacher in Nigeria.

For the best public senior secondary school administrator, Dr. Mrs. Amaka Ubaka of Prince Memorial Secondary School, Onitsha, earned the second position in Nigeria. Mrs. Ngozi Okafor of Community High School, Nkwelle Ezunaka, emerged as the second-best public junior secondary school administrator in Nigeria, while Mrs. Nnenna Edozieobi clinched the second position for the best public primary school administrator in Nigeria.

While appreciating the Minister for Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, for presenting the awards and laptops to each of the awardees, the Executive Chairman of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Awka, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi, congratulated the awardees for making Anambra State proud.

Dr. Nwadinobi observed that the series of awards coming into Anambra State’s public and private school system was a testament to the massive support for the basic education sector by the State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, who has shown an uncommon passion for basic and digital literacy in the state.

“Without the huge transformation that Governor Soludo brought into the state’s school system through the employment of 8,115 teachers, regular training and retraining of teachers, headteachers, school administrators, and Officers-in-Charge of Schools in Anambra State, as well as the digitization of the education system, these awards may not have been achieved,” she noted.
