Super Falcons Captain Ajibade Seals PSG Move After Atlético Exit

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has completed a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain Féminine, signing a two-year contract with an option for extension after leaving Atlético de Madrid.

PSG announced the signing on Monday, hailing Ajibade as a player who brings “pace, creativity, and international experience” to their squad.

The 24-year-old forward spent four years at Atlético, where she became a key figure both in Spain’s Liga F and in European competitions. Known for her versatility in attack, Ajibade also captained Nigeria during major international tournaments, earning recognition as one of Africa’s brightest football talents.

Her arrival in Paris sees her link up with compatriot Joe Echegini, creating a Nigerian duo at the heart of PSG’s ambitions for domestic dominance and Champions League success.

In her first comments as a PSG player, Ajibade expressed excitement about the move.

“I’m deeply honoured to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, a top-drawer club in Europe. This is a major step for me, and I’m committed to giving my all to help PSG win titles and to inspire young footballers, be they in Nigeria or elsewhere,” Ajibade said after completing the move.

The 24-year-old links up with compatriot Jennifer Echegini as Les Parisiennes strengthen their squad in a bid to reclaim the Ligue 1 Féminine title, which they last won in 2021.

Ajibade shone at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where she was voted Player of the Tournament after scoring one goal and providing two assists as Nigeria claimed a record 10th continental crown.
