Suspect in Orile homicide case arrested in Kogi, stolen vehicle recovered

Lagos, Nigeria – Detectives from the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspect linked to the murder of 65-year-old Mrs. Jane Okoye in Orile Iganmu.

Initially, the crime occurred on April 2, 2025, prompting an immediate police response.

According to investigations, the suspect, Abubakar Iliyasu, allegedly broke into the victim’s home before fleeing in her Toyota Sienna.

Consequently, Mrs. Okoye was found unconscious and later died in the hospital despite medical intervention.

Following the incident, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba for further scrutiny.

Meanwhile, a specialized homicide team deployed intelligence and technical resources to track the suspect.

Subsequently, their efforts led to Abubakar Iliyasu’s arrest in Ankpa, Kogi State.

Additionally, authorities recovered the stolen Toyota Sienna in good condition, securing it as vital evidence.

Currently, the suspect remains in custody at SCID, Yaba, where he is cooperating with investigators.

Moreover, he is providing crucial details to aid the ongoing probe.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has vowed to ensure justice prevails.
